Sublimation printing is a technique used to print designs onto polyester-coated fabrics or materials using special sublimation ink. The design is first printed on sublimation paper, then transferred to the fabric using high heat (around 180–200°C). The heat causes the ink to turn into gas and permeate the fibers of the fabric—resulting in vibrant, permanent prints that won't peel or fade.

Benefits of Sublimation Printing
🎨 Sharp and vibrant colors Delivers excellent detail and a wide color range—perfect for complex designs and graphics.
💧 Fade- and peel-resistant Because the ink becomes part of the fabric, it lasts even after multiple washes.
👕 Soft and comfortable fabric feel The print doesn’t sit on top of the fabric, so it stays soft and breathable.
🧵 Best suited for 100% polyester Or fabrics with a high polyester content.
Limitations of Sublimation
⚠️ Works only on light-colored or white fabricsSince sublimation ink is translucent, it can’t cover dark backgrounds.
⚠️ Not suitable for cotton or natural fabricsThe ink won’t bond well with natural fibers.

Common Applications

Activewear fashion
Premium items like printed mugs, pillows, and pillowcases
Fabric banners, flags, and fabric posters

I work a lot with Figma, and having figma fonts that integrate smoothly with it has made my design process so much easier. Figma-compatible fonts are convenient because you don’t need to worry about compatibility issues when sharing projects with a team. I’ve noticed that they save time and make collaboration more seamless. If you’re a designer who uses Figma often, I’d highly recommend using fonts that are optimized for the platform.
